NERC PRC-026 Compliance Study - H2O Power

By developing an EasyPower model of the H2O Power properties in Northeastern Ontario, 3i0 was able to make the recommendations necessary to ensure H2O Power met all requirements for relay performance during stable power swings.

Generator Protections Upgrade SEL 300G - Northland Power

3i0 designed, installed, and commissioned custom doors for the existing generator protection panels replacing the aging electromechanical relay scheme with an SEL 300G multifunction protection relay. The new relays allow for more reliable and flexible protections that can easily be modified to comply with the evolving requirements and needs of NERC and the IESO.

Kenora GS Redevelopment Project- H2O Power

3i0 was involved in the redevelopment of the H2O Power generating station in Kenora, ON. Our team designed and commissioned the line and transformer protections for the new substation. We also commissioned the generator protections, switchgear, lubrication units and controls for the six new generators. 3i0 also designed, fabricated and commissioned the new teleprotections as a part of the upgrades to the station.

Arc Flash Analysis and Coordination Study - Northland Power

Using EasyPower modeling software, 3i0 modeled the IFPC site composed of two gas turbines and one steam turbine. All equipment ranging from 230 kV to 208 V was incorporated including: switchgear, motor control centers and all related loads, DC systems, distribution panels, UPS systems, lighting transformers and protection devices to provide the customer with a detailed model for their records. Coordination, equipment duty, and arc flash studies were carried out to provide the customer with updated labels for all equipment as well as a list of recommendations to rectify any safety concerns.

Protections for Substation Upgrade - H2O Power

3i0 was tasked with assisting H2O Power with the upgrade of their main substation in Iroquois Falls, Ontario. Services provided include:

  • Design, fabrication, and testing of the protection panels for LIST EQUIPMENT.

  • Completion of a protections study for all associated devices.

  • Creation of the settings files for all relays.

  • Site supervision during construction.

  • Commissioning protections (beginning in DATE).
